Sandro Hirsch

German trumpeter Sandro Hirsch was born in the Südpfalz in 1997 and began his junior studies with Prof. Peter Leiner at the age of 14. He continued his studies with Prof. Klaus Schuhwerk at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt and with Prof. Reinhold Friedrich at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe. He also received further artistic inspiration from Gábor Tarkövi, Markus Stock-hausen, Kristian Steenstrup, and many others.
Since the beginning of 2024, he has been principal trumpeter of the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, having previously held the same position with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and performed as a guest artist with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, among others.
As a soloist, he has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra Debrecen and the Kammerphilharmonie Mannheim, and has made guest appearances at prestigious festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, and the Konzerthaus Berlin.
He is a multiple first prize winner of national and international competitions, including the 3rd International Kodály Competition 2025, the Walter Gieseking Hochschulwettbewerb, the Süddeutsche Kammermusikwettbewerb, and the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe. He has received the highest score four times in the national competition ‘Jugend musiziert’. Hirsch is also a scholarship holder of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and the Konzertförderung Deutscher Musikrat 2024/25.
He initiated a brass band for children in Kigali, Rwanda, and the “conTRUMPETary” project to promote contemporary trumpet music. Since October 2023, he has held a teaching position at the Wiesbaden Music Academy, is a guest lecturer with various state youth orchestras, and has given master classes in South Korea and Taiwan.
At the 74th ARD International Music Competition, Sandro Hirsch won the second prize in the trumpet category.
