Hongyi Jiang

Hongyi Jiang was born in Wenzhou in the Chinese province of Zhejiang in 2003. At the age of 12, he began studying at the Middle School of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, where he also played as principal clarinetist in the conservatory’s youth symphony orchestra. In 2021, he was accepted into the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing as the top student in his class. His artistic training was influenced by renowned clarinetists such as Yuan Yuan, Florent Héau, and Alexandre Chabot.
In 2024, Jiang was accepted into the clarinet class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he studies with Philippe Berrod and Arnaud Leroy.
The young clarinetist’s most significant achievements include first prize at the Buffet Asia Pacific Clarinet Music Competition in 2018, first prize at the Buffet Crampon Clarinet Competition in 2021, and first prize at the Lisbon International Clarinet Competition in 2023. In March 2024, he was awarded both first prize and the audience prize at the 52nd International Jeunesses Musicales Competition in Belgrade.
In addition, he was invited to join the International Clarinet Association (ICA) in 2018 and participated in special projects, including an exchange performance in Macau in 2019 and the anniversary concert celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.
At the 74th ARD International Music Competition, Hongyi Jiang won the second prize in the clarinet category.
